Orchestre symphonique de la Vallée-du-Haut-Saint-Laurent
Orchestre philharmonique du Grand Montréal
A versatile conductor
Incorporated in April 2008, the Orchestre symphonique de la Vallée-du-Haut-Saint-Laurent (OSVHSL) asserts to be one the cultural organizations that will serve and help the large south-west area of Montreal to become more artistically independant in regard of the metropole.

Commuting is becoming expensive and we all are running out of time ; the possibility to rely on a highly professionnal chamber orchestra, both regional and touring, is no more a luxury but a necessity. OSVHSL claims to be the right answer to these issues.

Stay tuned !

A versatile and inspired conductor, Daniel Constantineau is a graduate from Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where he studied orchestra conducting with Raffi Armenian, theory, composition and orchestration with Gilles Tremblay, Clermont Pépin, Micheline Coulombe-Saint-Marcoux, Magdeleine Martin and Gaston Arel, from 1975 to 1985.

From 1985 to 1987, Daniel Constantineau honed his skills with Charles Dutoit and Serge Garant, becoming one of the very rare Quebecers to be trained by these two outstanding maestros. Recipient of grants from the Mc Abby Foundation and Ministère des Affaires culturelles du Québec, he participated during this same period in several apprenticeship programs : Tanglewood with Gustav Meier, Domaine Forget with Pierre Dervaux and Artsperience Conducting Symposium with Nurhan Arman. In June 2004, he joined Tafelmusik Summer Summer Institute as Conductor participant, to move on baroque orchestra and choir conducting with Jeanne Lamon and Ivars Taurins.

As music director and conductor, he leaded Domaine Forget and Camp musical Accord parfait youth orchestras. As guest conductor or assistant, Daniel Constantineau conducted the Northern Symphony Orchestra, Nova Scotia Symphony, Orchestre de l'Université de Montréal, Orchestre des jeunes du Québec, Orchestre des jeunes de Joliette and Orchestre du Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. He created and recorded many premières of contemporay works at Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, Société des concerts alternatifs du Québec and CBC FM radio.

In September 1996, he founded the Orchestre philharmonique du Grand Montréal, a community symphony orchestra composed of highly qualified amateurs and students. The orchestra experienced immediate success that continued until its dissolution in June 2001. OPGM performances received critical praise ; it's programs were a delight to the musicians and audience alike. The OPGM is the sole community ensemble to have performed at the Montréal High Lights Festival, in March 2000, and the Concerts populaires de Montréal, in July of that same year, where the orchestra received an enthusiastic 5-out-of-5 rating from the audience.

Daniel Constantineau teaches music at the College de Valleyfield since 2000. There, in 2006, he founded the Choeur du Collège de Valleyfield, which performed four concerts at the end of the season.

As composer and orchestrator who experienced both studio and live environments, Daniel Constantineau is able to conduct, coach and rehearse pop instrumentists, singers and comedians in stage, film, radio and television situations or venues, including pop song recordings.
